Performance Platform

A special jazz piano ensemble appearance by Bösendorfer Artist D.D. Jackson as one of the highlights of our Holiday Gifting Affair of 2005, demonstrating another step in the circle from live performance to listening experience.

The Canadian-born, New York-based pianist/composer, performed on the Bösendorfer Imperial and was joined by two very special guests: cellist/trombonist Dana Leong and soprano saxophonist Sam Newsome as they played Jackson’s original compositions in preparation for an exciting new recording which was to take place the following week for Justin Time Records in conjunction with the innovative website Artistshare.com - the finished CD, titled “Serenity” is available in stores.

Excerpts of this special preview session were recorded live and reproduced following the concert with true to life realism by the Bösendorfer Loudspeakers for repeat listening. For this special presentation Bösendorfer New York teamed up with Joe Fratus of Art Audio,
who premiered a new amplifier, the Lissa.

And this recording preserved for posterity a surprise appearance by Arturo Sandoval, he himself proud owner of a Bösendorfer Imperial, who closed the performance with a most beautiful encore – while he refers to playing the trumpet as work, playing the piano, and here of course a Bösendorfer, is pure pleasure to him.
