Neue Galerie
AUSTRIAN RENAISSANCE IN NYC Another new Bösendorfer venue in NYC, Café Sabarsky at the Neue Galerie with its unique series devoted to German and Austrian music of the 1880s to1930s, one of the most fertile and volatile musical eras in Western music history. Each Thursday evening world-famous singers present a different aspect of the music of the period, with in-depth explorations of individual composers, genres, and performers of the era. The series is designed to offer extraordinary performances of the music that was heard during the period when the museum’s collection was created and first exhibited. The intimate 60-seat room is exquisitely appointed with period objects, including lighting fixtures by Josef Hoffman and furniture by Adolf Loos, and features a rare Bösendorfer piano for performances of the museum's cabaret and chamber music programs. Gerhard Bronner’s appearance was very Austrian indeed and hilariously funny – cabaret of the finest!
