100 years ago there were over 150 piano manufacturers in the city of Vienna alone. Now only one survives—the most exclusive House of Bösendorfer. Whether one hears this legacy in the strains of a Strauss waltz, or in the rapid octaves of the Liszt Sonata, Bösendorfer will in some way always represent the unequivocal part Vienna has played in the history of music. But now, with the Bösendorfer New York Edition, Bösendorfer pays homage to one of the "capital cities" of 20th century music making: New York City.
The traditional antique brass fittings and subdued bronze plate has been exchanged here for the clean and clear hues of silver and chrome or brushed nickel, to symbolize the aesthetic transition which occurs between the "old world" and "the New World." Where the warm nostalgia of the past gives way to the cool self-reflection of the present, the Bösendorfer New York Grand is ready to play its part.
